Ok you ladies who got to attend blissdom 09, I was so jealous. I would have loved to have been right there with you Susie, The nester, Kim, Kimba and Rhoda.
But Tennessee is so far from my little town in Louisiana. And I so, cannot afford to go anywhere right now. What with building our dream house, trying to sell our home, getting ready for my new grandchild, getting ready for my beautiful godchild's wedding........whew.
So.....while you were getting your bliss on. I decided to get my creativity on.
Meaning I have been through a lot these past two years. (May start posting about that) and so my creativity has been stifled. Starting this blog has been the beginning of my journey back to creativity. Reading your blogs has begun my journey back to inspiration.
So Saturday I decided to take a little road trip. I called one of my dear friends, Anabeth and asked if she wanted to join me. Very spontaneous. The best way. Of course, she said yes and we were on our way.
I have been wanting to visit this place. I've been to the website, was intrigued and have been wanting to go but could never find the time. Cypress city Antiques.
It is located in Arnaudville, Louisiana. So I had onstar download the directions into my navigation system and off we went. First off, let me say it was a perfect day. Blue skies, beautiful weather.
When we drove up this is what we saw. Hellloooo, this sign was callin my name.
This was the cute little sign at the road.
How could you not want to enter these doors? The building was once a lumber mill. Dr. John Daigre and his wife Toni own the business. He was there that day so we got to meet him. We really enjoyed their collection of antiques, southern folk art. They open up the building for parties and I think they have square dances there. You can read more about what they offer on their website.
I love this bench, it would look so good in our side entrance. I can picture my family taking off their shoes and putting them under the bench (neatly) and maybe my house would stay cleaner longer. (right) It's made from cypress. Very acadian style.
Loved these old doors.
Love the cross. It is almost like one that I showed over a fireplace in a previous post I did on Fireplaces. When you look at something a lot and really admire it, sometimes it just shows up.
Love this wall of items. The beautiful blue is so hot right now, but makes a perfect backdrop for these precious items that have probably been around since before we were born. This wall looks like art.
Then you walk into this room. I wish I could have taken more pictures. I will when I visit the next time.
Love this table, it would go perfect between 2 of the front doors at the house. I think I need something a little deeper because I would like to place 3 ottomans under it for extra seating. But I am loving the cypress wood.
I will post about our visit there in the next few days, stay tuned.
Well my creativity is back on. I hope your girls had a great time at Blissdom and cannot wait to hear all about it.
Love,
Deb

OMG, I wish I had received a call. I SOOOO want that silver tea set on that table in the ninth picture. Next time you go, I better hear from you. Love you!
edit: sorry I keep putting the diabetes login instead of my regular blog
Deb, that does look like a great place. It's nice to see some actual old items. Most of the shops around here have the same things which are new but made to look older.
That is a nice bench you were looking at. Is the bowl part of the bench or was it just sitting there?
I think we should all go to Blissdom next year!!
Missed you girl!
But those doors--those were almost worth missing blissdom for!
Well, Deb, you'll just have to plan to go next year. I have a feeling that a lot more girls will make a point to go then. That looks like a FUN place, I would have loved it! Thanks for stopping by.
Hey neighbor! Looks like you had some Bliss going on down here at home. I would have loved to be there with ya on that trip. I think I heard that sign calling my name too! About the tapes... Im not sure how much they are asking for them. After I found that out I would then say yes or no. I got the most out of Bliss just hanging around friends and hearing their stories. The panel did just that too. It was their story and what worked for them. I think I took home more memories than knowledge. hope that helps some...Im just being honest~
Just stopping by from " A Beautiful Life"
....would love to have gone to that antique store too....the cross is gorgeous !
Have fun building your house ...big job but you'll be thrilled when you're done.
Cheers,
Bre

Happy Day
You look like you had a fun time! I wish I was there! And yes, I do laugh at the wrong things! ha
Hi, Deb!
Well...when I saw 'Arnaudville', I just had to leave a comment! I'm originally from there, although I've lived in Texas all of my married life (38 years!) I haven't been to Cypress City Antiques...I'm very familiar with where the lumberyard is, or was...but after seeing your pictures, you bet it's on my 'to do' list the next time I'm home for a visit.
I've been blog hopping this afternoon, and just came across your blog for the first time. I'll be sure to add it to my list of blogs I follow.
